Chronic pain is not just physical. It is the alarm clock ringing and the fear of getting up. It is playing with your children that you can no longer manage. It is the run you gave up. It is the night that never ends.
Perhaps you have already tried physiotherapy, anti-inflammatories, even cortisone injections. Perhaps you have been told that surgery is the only option. There is another way.
Osteopathy does not merely treat the site of pain. Knee pain may originate in the pelvis. A headache may stem from cervical tension. A digestive problem may be linked to a fascial restriction in the abdomen.
Regulated in Portugal by Law 71/2013, osteopathy is a manual therapy that works across three dimensions: the musculoskeletal system, the internal organs and the craniosacral system. All without medication, without invasion, using only the hands.
Treatment of joints, muscles, tendons and ligaments. Joint mobilisation and manipulation to restore range of motion.
Treatment of fascia -- the connective tissue that envelops the entire body. Releases deep tensions and restores movement fluidity.
Gentle work on the internal organs. Improves visceral mobility, circulation and digestive system function.
Subtle techniques on the cranium and sacrum that balance the nervous system, reduce headaches and promote deep relaxation.
"Osteopathy proved to be an effective treatment for pain reduction and partial improvement of physical function in adults with chronic low back pain and acute neck pain."

"Myofascial release proved more effective than controls in reducing chronic low back pain, even at follow-up."

"1,334 patients: manipulative therapy was clinically effective and cost-effective. The combination with exercise achieved the best results at 12 months."
UK BEAM Trial -- British Medical Journal, 2004
"After years of taking medication for back pain, osteopathy changed my life. In just a few sessions, the pain disappeared and never came back."
